4–H Summer Camp – July 1–5
Jefferson County 4–H Summer Camp sign up is underway. Fifth and sixth grade 4–H’ers are camping at Camp Burton on Tybee Island July 1–5 for $285. Sign up is available with a $75 non-refundable deposit. The Vidalia Onion Fundraiser is currently being held to help campers with camp costs. The Family Y of Jefferson County is now accepting registrations for Summer Camp 2013. Campers will enjoy arts/crafts, games, songs and character development activities. Camp begins May 28th. Spaces are limited. Only 60 spots are available. Summer Camp is for children ages 5-12. Camp hours are 7:00am–6:00 pm. Fees are $75 per week per child for YMCA members and $95 per week per child for non-YMCA members. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify. The Alcohol and Drug Awareness Class will take place at Jefferson County High School on Wednesday, May 29, from 8:00 am–12:00 pm in the health room. The African American Research Library-Museum and Cultural Center is in the process of organizing a summer basketball league for boys and girls ages 14-18. The Bartow Museum will hold a plaque dedication on Sunday, May 9 at 2:00 pm in recognition of Patsy Jordan’s contributions to the city of Bartow.
