May 24 -- Registration for GHSGT Reviews
Jefferson County High School will hold GHSGT reviews on June 27-July 12, with English, writing and science from 8:30-11am and social studies and math from 11am-1:30pm. Registration begins May 24, from 8:30am-3pm. GHSGT test dates are Monday, July 16 for English with two sharpened no. 2 pencils, on Tuesday, July 17 for math with two sharpened no. 2 pencils and a scientific calculator, on Wednesday, July 18 for science with two sharpened no. 2 pencils and a scientific calculator, on Wednesday, July 18 for writing with two sharpened no. 2 pencils and a blue/black ink pen, and on Thursday, July 19 for social studies with two sharpened no. 2 pencils.

May 26 -- Music in the Park
The Bartow Community Club will hold Music in the Park featuring David Fowler on May 26, from 4-6pm at Heritage Square Park in Downtown Bartow. The event is free. Bring lawn chairs.

May 28 -- Library Closing
All locations of the Jefferson County Library System will be closed on Monday, May 28 for Memorial Day observance.

May 30 – Memorial Day Service
American Legion post 229 in wrens will present a memorial day service on Wednesday, may 30 at 11 a.m. at the wrens city cemetery. C.W. “Speakie” Stephens will be the speaker. He served in the army and has been a member of the American legion post 229 for 62 years. In the event, of rain, the service will be moved to wrens united Methodist Church. Everyone is invited to attend.

May 30 -- Blood Drive
Shepeard Community Blood Center will hold a blood drive on Wednesday, May 30 from 3pm – 6pm at Wrens Baptist Church, Wrens.

May 30 - 31 -- Hunter Education Course
The Department of Natural Resources will hold a hunter education course on May 30-31 from 9am-1pm on firearm safety and ethics, conservation, tree stand safety and basic first aid. Attendees must be 12 years old. To register go to www.gohuntinggeorgia.com. Walk-ins are welcome.

May 31 -- Neighborhood Watch Meeting
The Wrens Neighborhood Watch Association will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, May 31 at 7 p.m. at the Wrens City Hall Civic Room. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. 

May 31 -- Safe Sitter Classes
Beginning Saturday, May 31 Jefferson Hospital will offer Safe Sitter classes for children at least 11 years of age. Safe Sitter is a program geared towards teaching baby sitters how to better nurture and protect children. The first class will be May 31 from 9:30am - 4pm. Students are encouraged to bring lunch. The cost of the class is $35, which covers the cost of materials for the class, including the Safe Sitter manual and certification for the course. June 1- Nov. 18 -- Schoolhouse Players Present: The 2012 Theatre Line-up
The schoolhouse players have three plays left for 2012 season, Home Games (comedy), June 1-3 and 8; Next of Kin (comedy/drama), Sept. 7-9 and 14—16; The Christmas Bus (musical), Nov. 9-11 and 16-18. June 4 -- Feed-a-Kid
Wrens Chapel AME will be a Feed-a-Kid site for the summer beginning June 4 at noon. For more information, contact site supervisor Nyessia Cunningham or call (706) 547-0294.

June 4-21-- Summer School
Jefferson County High School Will Hold summer school June 4-21 from 8 a.m. -2p.m. for English, math, science and social studies. The fee for one credit is $200 for in-County students and $400 for out-0f-County students. Payments can be in cash or money order only. No checks. June 9 -- Fly-In/Tractor Show
The Wrens/O.B. Brown Memorial Fly-In and Antique Tractor Show will be held on June 9, with gates opening at 9am. Arrival day is Friday, June 8 and departure day Sunday, June 10. It is open to antique cars, trucks and tractors. All show participants are invited to dinner on Friday at 6pm but bring a steak. For more information, contact Sid Brown at 706.814.8853.

July 2-6, July 16-20 -- 4-H Summer Camp
Jefferson County 4-H’ers will have the opportunity to go to Summer Camp during Camp during July. Fifth and sixth grader 4-H’ers are camping at Jekyll Island July 2-6. Seventh and eighth grade 4-H’ers are camping at Camp Burton on Tybee Island July 16-20 and ninth through 12th grade 4-H’ers will camp at Rock Eagle July 2-6. Band Booster Meetings
The Jefferson County Band Boosters will hold a meeting the first Thursday of each month in the Jefferson County High School band room. All middle and school parents are welcome to attend. The Louisville Food Pantry

The Food Pantry is in need of donations because of the overwhelming need for its services in Jefferson County. Free Sewing Classes
Jefferson County Family Connection and Communities in Schools is offering free sewing classes on Tuesdays from 5-7pm. Classes are held in the Family Connection building across from Louisville Academy (old Board of Education building). Participants will learn how to use a sewing machine and other basic sewing and quilting techniques, but all levels are welcome. For more information, call (478) 625-0524
