The Jefferson County Information Center located at 107 West Broad Street in Downtown Louisville, Georgia is set to close its doors on Memorial Day. The Information Center, which opened in June 2011, was a joint program of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, the Louisville Downtown Development Authority, and Friends of Historic Downtown Louisville. Friends provided staffing for the Information Center and funding for non-staffing costs was raised through a combination of sources, including performance of services and contributions from a variety of donors including the Chamber of Commerce. However, looking forward into the third year, it became clear the sufficient funding would not materialize.
For the past two years, the Jefferson County Information Center served as a hub for promoting local activities and events in Jefferson County. It also served as a center of graphic and web-design service for local businesses. We are sad to see it go, but unfortunately nothing lasts forever, especially in a small town. We will remember it fondly for its friendly, informative staff, its fresh, creative designs, and its Info Joe coffee. |
